फोंडा, दि.२ (प्रतिनिधी): कुंडई औद्योगिक वसाहतीतील ओरिएंटल कन्टेनर प्रायव्हेट लिमिटेड या प्लॅस्टिक उत्पादक करणाऱ्या कंपनीच्या गोदामाला आज (दि.२) सकाळी ८ च्या सुमारास आग लागल्याने मोठ्या प्रमाणात हानी झाली आहे. गोदामात साठवून ठेवलेले तयार प्लॅस्टिक सामान आणि इमारतीच्या छप्पराचे मिळून सुमारे दोन कोटी रुपयांचे नुकसान झाले आहे, असा दावा कंपनीने केला आहे. या कंपनीच्या गोदामाला लागलेल्या आगीचे कारण समजू शकले नाही, अशी माहिती दलाच्या अधिकाऱ्यांनी दिली.
या कंपनीच्या इमारतीच्या वरच्या दुसऱ्या मजल्यावर तयार सामान साठवून ठेवण्याचे गोदाम आहे. त्यात कंपनीत बनविलेले प्लॅस्टिक "कॅप्स' बॉक्समध्ये भरून साठवून ठेवण्यात आले होते. या कंपनीच्या गोदामाला आग लागल्याची माहिती कुंडई अग्निशामक दलाला सकाळी ८.२० वाजता मिळाली. गोदामाला लागलेली आग भीषण असल्याने फोंडा, ओल्ड गोवा, पणजी येथील अग्निशामक दलाच्या जवानांची आग विझविण्यासाठी मदत घेण्यात आली. दुपारी १.३० च्या सुमारास अग्निशामक दलाच्या जवानांनी सामानाला लागलेली आग पूर्णपणे विझविण्यात यश प्राप्त केले. प्लॅस्टिक सामानाने पेट घेतल्याने आगीने रौद्र रूप धारण केले होते. त्यामुळे प्लॅस्टिक सामानाबरोबर गोदामाच्या छप्पराची सुध्दा हानी झाली आहे.
अग्निशामक दलाच्या जवानांनी अथक परिश्रम करून अडीच कोटी रुपयांची मालमत्ता आगीच्या भक्षस्थानी पडण्यापासून वाचविली असून सुमारे दोन कोटी रुपयांचे नुकसान झाल्याचा दावा कंपनीने केला आहे, अशी माहिती अग्निशामक दलाच्या विभागीय अधिकारी डी.डी. रेडकर यांनी दिली. फोंडा, पणजी, ओल्ड गोवा आणि कुंडई येथील दलाच्या पंचवीस जवानांनी पाच अग्निशामक बंबाच्या साहाय्याने आग आटोक्यात आणण्यात यश मिळविले. तसेच फोंडा अग्निशामक दलाकडे असलेल्या फोंडा पालिकेच्या वीस कामगारांनी सुध्दा आग विझविण्यासाठी परिश्रम घेतले. कुंडई केंद्राचे प्रमुख श्रीपाद गावंस, फोंडा केंद्राचे अधिकारी फ्रान्सिस मेंडिस, ओल्ड गोवा केंद्राचे अधिकारी मायकल ब्रागांझा आणि पणजी येथील अधिकारी अजित कामत यांच्या मार्गदर्शनाखाली दलाच्या जवानांनी आग विझविण्याचे काम केले. अग्निशामक दलाचे संचालक अशोक मेनन यांनी घटनास्थळाला भेट देऊन पाहणी केली. दरम्यान, संध्याकाळी उशिरापर्यंत आगीच्या कारणाचा थांगपत्ता लागू शकलेला नाही.

Mustifund School Boys from Panim played DANGEROUS 'Dahi handi' --- The festival is very joyful if celebrated with all safety measures. Just yesterday i was in Mahalaxmi Temple in Panjim and i saw many school boys which may be studying in 8th, 9th and 10th standard from Mustifund School. They were playing Dahi Handi without any guidance and presence of the school staff. May be the school has no idea what their students do after their classes. First of all it was on a cement floor and the boys tied the handi pretty high. All the boys were in uniform and it looked like the school had organized the event. I just kept watching at them to ensure that I rush there in case of any emergency. Many times the boys fell on the ground trying to break the Handi. Few boys were acting over smart and showing their unwanted bravery. At last the boy who was tallest among the all managed to break the handi. But he was injured and blood was flowing from his hand. Please........The school should atleast see what their students do after their class. Yesterdays incident was very dangerous. It could have taken anybody's life. Looking at this event the smaller boys from the school will also think of doing this the next year. I request the school authorities either to organize a safe 'Dahi Handi' for the students or atleast keep a check on the students who boast of doing this event every year without the knowledge of the school. Once again I want to say "It was Very DANGEROUS"
